Moving Protection & Coverage
Desert Movers LV offers Released Value Protection, which is the basic industry standard for local moves. It is important to understand the specific limits of this coverage:
Standard Liability Coverage
* Limited Coverage: Desert Movers LV's standard insurance policy provides limited liability coverage at $0.60 per pound per item, as mandated by US DOT regulations.
* Scope of Liability: The Mover is only liable for damages that occur during the loading and unloading phases of the move. Liability for an item ceases once it is fully loaded onto or unloaded from the truck.
LIABILITY EXCLUSION FOR MINOR DAMAGES
The Mover will exercise reasonable care in handling all property; however, the Client acknowledges and agrees to the following exclusion regarding minor damage:
* Minor Wear and Tear: The Mover is not liable for minor scratches, scuffs, dings, nicks, or other cosmetic damage to furniture, walls, or other property that is a result of normal handling, loading, or transportation, particularly in difficult or narrow access points (e.g., tight hallways, stairwells).
* Definition: Cosmetic damage is defined as minor imperfections that do not impair the structural integrity or intended function of the item.
* Pre-existing Condition: This exclusion also applies to furniture that has been previously repaired, refurbished, or is constructed from pressed wood/particle board.
* Unsafe Items: Items the Mover deems unsafe to move. If the Client insists on moving such an item, the Client assumes all liability for any resulting damages.
* Customer Assistance: Any item the Client assists the Mover with.
* Improperly Packed Items: Fragile items that were not properly packed or secured by the Client.
* Third-Party Actions: Damages caused by individuals not employed by Desert Movers LV.
* Acts of God: Including, but not limited to, severe weather.
Property Damage Claims
* Immediate Reporting: Any damage to the property (residence) must be reported to the lead mover IMMEDIATELY at the time of discovery. Failure to provide immediate notice will waive the Client's right to claim compensation.
Recommended Additional Coverage
The Mover strongly recommends the Client obtain additional, comprehensive moving insurance from a third-party provider prior to the move. The Mover is not affiliated with any third-party insurance providers.
Optional Higher-Level Protection Because standard coverage is limited, you may want to purchase additional insurance for high-value items.
